A fun and easy way to encourage students to read, while raising money for JVF! Running May 10th-28th.
J.V. Forrestal will be running an online Read-A-Thon fundraiser from Monday, May 10 through Friday, May 28. All proceeds raised will go toward literacy initiatives for next year! All students will receive a fun bookmark and pencil to kick off the fundraiser next week, and the students who read the most can win additional prizes. We are very excited to promote reading and help our school raise money! Our goal is to raise $500 or more!
Please see the above flyer for an overview of how it works and what the prizes are. If you would like your child to participate, it’s easy and fun to join in. With your help, students will ask friends and family members to sponsor them with an “amount per hour read” donation (paid at the end of the Read-A-Thon), or a fixed donation (paid upfront). You can also reference the Parent FAQ and Sponsor FAQ.
Reading time both inside and outside class time can count toward your student’s Read-A-Thon; Mrs. Coleman will help log in-class reading time for all students.
Your child should have received login info for a private online account at www.whooosreading.org where they will log their reading. Parent and student instructions on how to use the website were sent home yesterday in your child’s folder or emailed if your child is remote.
We hope you will join us in this fundraiser, which should be fun, educational, and accessible. Spanish-language instructions are available, as are paper forms if you prefer not to use the online program. If you need those materials, please email Mrs. Coleman at coleman.s@beaconk12.org.
