We're working to set up eight sites for classes to be held outside! Read on to learn more.
As we mentioned at the March PTSO meeting, JVF asked the PTSO to form a committee to spearhead the creation of outdoor learning spaces. The idea is to get basic / non-permanent sites up and running as soon as possible this year to take advantage of warmer weather while taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Looking ahead at next year, the committee plans to explore more creative and potentially more permanent outdoor learning spaces that could be integrated more substantively into the curriculum.
The last few weeks, the committee has been hard at work planning the sites, collecting donated supplies and stumps, and outlining what additional equipment would be helpful to purchase (e.g., whiteboard easels, clipboards).
Vote on Supplies
At tomorrow evening’s PTSO meeting (Tuesday, April 13th at 7pm) we will walk through the committee’s recommendations and proposed supplies list. If you’d like to preview the presentation, please click here to view the Google Slides deck. After the presentation and discussion, we will be voting on each proposed line item. Please be sure to join us if you want to be part of the conversation — and let us know if you want to join the committee!
Sites Setup Day
We’ll kick off the setup of the sites on Saturday, April 17th from 10am-2pm. We need volunteers to help rake, set up stump circles, and get the sites ready for action! Sign up to help with a morning or afternoon slot by clicking here!
Thank you and see you outside!
